BUDGET CUTS
WHAT”S YOUR BUDGET?
The rich and the poor seem to know that the country is in a deficit crisis. What is happening, more critically, is the divisive views about what should be done to balance the budget. There also seems to be a “no-win” solution. We hope you are watching daily news and updates about this matter. The U.S. Budget will affect low income families for years to come.
There may be several approaches to balancing the budget in the second term of our current President: Cut domestic programs …. Raise taxes on the Middle Class and the Rich ….. Cut military spending…tighten the belts of American households…… These are the questions that presently divide the political parties, economic classes, and even the races in America. For Community Action, this could mean a reduction across the nation. Programs like financial assistance and education may not have sufficient funds to help as many familes as in the past. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid funding may be cut also. These are matters that have stirred up a heated debate between the tow major parties in America. As you pay attention to what is happening, ask yourself the following questions:
Check out the Huffington Post (www.huffingtonpost.com) and the Wall Street Journal (www.wsj.com) and find out a little more about the terms sequestration and fiscal cliff while also learning how the national budget issues affect everyone. There are many more articles to inform you and you simply need to “google” the words, “sequestration” and “fiscal cliff” to understand what is actually developing so you can give a voice to it.
Here’s another tip that might give you something to think about. Have you ever sought answers by browsing the web. Some of the information may seem hard to understand, some might be real interesting, some information may be a bit far fetched. The responsibility is yours to research all the media and book knowledge you can find and then conclude what you find to be useful as you pursue your goals. Check out “google.com” and seek titles like POVERTY IN AMERICA. This could lead you to current information that teaches you how the American Economy operates and updates on Laws and Policies in popular cities and states.
